Many offices, services to close Friday for holiday

Because of Saturday's Christmas holiday, all federal, state, county and municipal offices will be closed Friday, except for law enforcement and emergency services.

• The State Archives, 600 W. Main St., will be closed Friday and Saturday.

• The U.S. Postal Service will have regular mail deliveries Friday, but service windows at the Main Post Office, 131 W. High St., the Capital View Station, 1750 Jefferson St., and other area post offices will be closing at noon, and noon is the scheduled final pickup of the day for collections from street boxes.

The Postal Service will remain closed Saturday, with no regular mail deliveries or holiday collections.

Express Mail will be delivered as required.

• Jefftran buses won't run Friday, and will resume operations Monday.

• The Missouri River Regional Library in Cole and Osage counties will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Daniel Boone Regional libraries in Boone and Callaway counties and the Heartland Library in Miller and Maries counties will be closed Friday and Saturday.

The Saturday holiday will not affect the Allied Waste collection schedules.

Most banks and businesses will have early closings Friday and be closed Saturday.

Lincoln University will be closed all week, and will reopen Jan. 3.

The News Tribune offices will be closed Friday and Saturday.

We will not publish a Saturday newspaper.

Publication will resume with Sunday's News Tribune.

Office hours will resume Monday morning.
