Columbia newspaper stays in family's hands

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - The Columbia Daily Tribune will remain family-owned under a reorganization announced this week.

The mid-Missouri newspaper reported Tuesday that Andy Waters and his sister, Elizabeth - the two youngest children of publisher Hank Waters - are buying out four other family members to take full ownership effective Jan. 1.

Hank Waters will take the title of publisher emeritus and continue writing editorials. His wife, Vicki Russell, will become publisher.

Andy Waters will give up his current title as vice president for interactive media and become president and general manager.

Two other children of Hank Waters will retire.
