Kansas City man sentenced in 2 murders

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A 20-year-old Kansas City man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the execution-style murders of two young men.

Twenty-year-old Michael G. Gunn was sentenced Thursday to two consecutive 25-year sentences for his role in the April 2009 slayings of 23-year-old Andrew Eli and 24-year-old Justin Budreau. He also was sentenced to two 20-year terms for armed robbery and four 50-year sentences for armed criminal action.

Prosecutors say Eli and Budreau were asleep in Eli's apartment when intruders burst in, robbed them and shot each in the back of the head.

The Kansas City Star reports that Gunn admitted being part of the robbery but denied shooting either man.

Two other men charged in the case are set for trial in January.
