Weather slows area sports scene

Wednesday night's blast of winter weather nearly shut down the local sports scene Thursday.

The Jefferson City Lady Jays-Helias Lady Crusaders basketball game scheduled for Fleming Fieldhouse was called off. It will be rescheduled after the holidays, but an exact date has yet to be determined.

Loser's bracket semifinals at the 50th Annual Linn Tournament were moved to today.

Four games will now be played in the tournament today and Saturday.

Belle and New Bloomfield will meet at 4 p.m. and Chamois will take on Steelville at 5:30 p.m. in games moved from Thursday. Linn and Fatima will meet at 7 p.m., followed by Dixon and Cuba at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the seventh-place game will start at 3 p.m., followed by the fifth-place contest at 4:30 p.m. Third place will be decided at 6 p.m., with the title game slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.

Blair Oaks frosh win

ROLLA - The Blair Oaks Falcons rolled to a 50-10 win Thursday night over the Rolla Bulldogs in freshman action.

Joey Bernskoetter had 12 points for the Falcons (4-1).
