Redeem Project sees exponential growth

In the six months since opening, The Redeem Project has experienced an explosion in the number of clients it helps in a month. In June, it served about 30 people. In November, more than 745 received services.

The local faith-based, not-for-profit needs help to support and encourage families who have suffered a traumatic loss or situation in the past year - most of them in the past six months, such as loss of a parent or loss of a child, and they are still in the grief process.

Initially, The Redeem Project expected to help 12 families, but ended up with 29, including 103 children.

Also, the volunteer organization will relocate as of Thursday to Calvary Baptist Church, 1436 Hough St.

The Redeem Project is dedicated to helping others with life restoration, recovery, education, empowerment, encouragement, re-entry from rehab and/or prison, and motivation. The charity collaborates with other organizations in the area such as Central Missouri Community Action, Probation and Parole, UnMet Needs, churches and businesses.

Its mission statement is: "... because every life counts and no life is beyond redemption."
