A Cole County Sheriff's Department deputy and a first responder helped make a special delivery Tuesday night.
Around 9:43 p.m., Deputy Justin Rollins was dispatched to go to U.S. 54 and New Church Road for a report of a woman in a vehicle and in labor.
First responder Jim Clark had gotten on the scene before Rollins.
Brittany Hicks, a 911 dispatcher for Morgan County, was in the back seat of the vehicle.
"My water broke, and we had to get moving so my dad got me in his car and we took off," she said. "I had some contractions in the morning with no problems, but by around 8 p.m., they were getting stronger."
"When I got there, the baby was crowning," Rollins said. "The cord was wrapped around the baby's neck, but we were able to get the baby untangled. The baby came on out, and I got a coat to put it in."
The little girl, named Emily, weighed 7 pounds, 21 ounces.
