INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) - A plea hearing has been postponed for a former Independence pastor charged with killing a parishioner earlier this year.
Fifty-year-old David Love appeared without a lawyer Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court, prompting the judge to reschedule his arraignment for Jan. 10. Love applied for a public defender.
Love is charged in the March 31 shooting death of 42-year-old Randy Stone in Stone's insurance office.
Stone's family members have said Stone's wife had been having an affair with Love for several years. The wife has not been charged.
Love left New Hope Baptist Church in late April. Stone had left the church about two weeks before he was killed.
Love was arrested late last month in South Carolina, where he was working as a truck driver.
