Holts Summit community rallies to help crime victim

Auction set for Saturday

The community of Holts Summit is coming together to help raise money for a family affected by killings that took place in the Callaway County town in October.

A benefit/auction will be held Saturday for the family of Jeff Werdehausen at St. Andrews Church, 400 St. Andrews Drive.

The benefit will help raise money to pay for family medical expenses, funeral costs and daily expenses.

Werdehausen was shot and killed Oct. 26 at his home and his wife, Gina, was severely injured. She is currently recovering at Rusk Rehabilitation Center in Columbia and is expected to make a full recovery.

Three weeks before the shootings, the family lost its home in a fire.

Werdehausen did not have life insurance, and the family is faced with paying for his funeral costs as well as Gina's medical bills out-ofpocket.

The event goes from 5-11:30 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $20 for adults, and $10 for those 10-16. Children 10 and younger get in for free.

Items for the raffle and silent auction include a hot-air balloon ride, handmade quilt, power drill, lodging packages and various electronics.
