The Jefferson City Lady Jays learned a valuable lesson Thursday night in their home opener at Fleming Fieldhouse - no lead is safe.
After enjoying comfortable a lead for 24 minutes, the Lady Jays saw their doubledigit advantage shrink to eight points in the fourth quarter before holding on for a 55-44 win over Rolla.
"We were good at times, but then it was kind of the age-old lesson that if you're going to learn lessons, you better learn them during a victory," Lady Jays coach Shane Meyer said. "The lesson we know we need to learn is how to close ball games.
"We had a chance to make it a 15- or 20-point game and kind of relax down the stretch. But 15 kind of went to eight.
"They had some momentum and we knew we were going to have our hands full."
