Two Jefferson City businesses abruptly close

Employees miss out on paycheck

Some employees of two Jefferson City furniture stores say they feel deceived after the businesses abruptly closed, leaving them unemployed and without their final paychecks.

Employees said Wednesday that owner Joe Sherman told them after their shift at 7 p.m. Tuesday that the bank was immediately closing Discount Furniture Warehouse, 2009 Missouri Blvd., and his affiliated business at Capital Mall, Furniture Made Easy, because of the economy.
