Jefferson City resident Perry Coy addresses an audience after Gov. Jay Nixon awarded him the Legion of Honor, France's highest honor for heroism, for his actions during World War II.

On Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, Gov. Jay Nixon presented Jefferson City resident Perry Coy with the highest honor from the French government for heroism, the Legion of Honor.

The decorated WWII combat veteran also received the Silver Star Service banner and certificate. Coy is the second area veteran to receive the Legion of Honor decoration in the past three months.
