Building a sense of community and compelling students to action when they see someone being hurt are the keys to a new initiative at Trinity Lutheran School in Jefferson City this year.
Although Trinity is a Christian school, sometimes people need to be reminded, coordinator Mary Huhmann said.
The school has seldom experienced bullying issues. But officials want to take proactive measures, especially with the onset of cyberbullying outlets, Principal Ken Hartman said.
This week Trinity kicked off the Olweus Bully Prevention Program with the student body. And parents will receive a letter detailing the rules and consequences of the new program.
