Prisoners cause damage at Boonville Correctional Center

A power outage this weekend apparently led to prisoners causing damage at the Boonville Correctional Center.

The outage occurred at 10:55 p.m. Saturday night and lasted until 12:43 a.m., according to Missouri Department of Corrections spokesperson Karen Pojmann.

"The backup generator did not kick in the way it was supposed to," Pojmann said. "During the blackout, some property was damaged, but we're still working on getting all the specifics."

Pojmann said there were no injuries reported in connection with the outage.
