Kansas City Zoo announces unexpected death of young cheetah

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Kansas City Zoo says one of its three young cheetahs has died unexpectedly.

KMBC-TV reports that the zoo announced on Facebook Monday that its two-year-old cheetah named Drogon died over the weekend. The animal's cause of death hasn't yet been determined.

The zoo says it plans to release the results of the necropsy, which could take more than a month.

Drogon and his litter mates, Viserion and Rhaegal, were born at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, Texas. Drogon joined the Kansas City Zoo last year.
