Manslaughter conviction for crash that killed fetus

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - A St. Charles man will be sentenced Sept. 19 after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for a drunk-driving wreck that caused a woman to lose her unborn baby.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/2a5vVM7 ) reports that 55-year-old Paul Murphy was also found guilty of three counts of second-degree assault in the 2013 crash. St. Charles County prosecutor Tim Lohmar announced the verdict Thursday.

Police say Murphy had been drinking when his car swerved into the path of another car, severely injuring a 3-year-old girl and two others in that car. One of the injured people was a woman who was 19 weeks pregnant. Her baby was stillborn at the hospital.
