Nixon to attend Dallas police officers' memorial

JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Gov. Jay Nixon plans to attend a Tuesday memorial service for police officers slain in Dallas.
Nixon had planned to be gone this week on a European trade mission.
But he dropped out after police officer Michael Flamion was critically wounded during a Friday morning traffic stop in Ballwin. The shooting came a day after five Dallas police officers were killed during a protest over the recent fatal police shootings of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota.
Nixon said he will be accompanied at the Dallas memorial service by his public safety director and Missouri State Highway Patrol superintendent.
The governor's office said several lawmakers who went on the trade trip to Ireland and the United Kingdom are returning today and Wednesday. A stop in Switzerland has been canceled.
