COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- University of Missouri graduate assistants have raised concerns about whether the university monitored some private social media conversations amid student attempts to organize.
Among hundreds of pages of university emails related to campus unrest last fall, the university's News Bureau included Facebook postings from the Forum for Graduate Rights page and from Connor Lewis, co-chairman of the Coalition of Graduate Workers.
The Columbia Daily Tribune (http://j.mp/2aYLPXp ) reports the postings were from pages with private settings.
In May, the coalition sued the university seeking legal recognition as the union for about 2,600 graduate assistants.
News Bureau director Mary Jo Banken says the Facebook postings were added to a collection of articles and their inclusion doesn't mean the office is spying on students. She says she wasn't aware the pages were private.
