Rehabilitation of the westbound Interstate 70 bridge over Auxvasse Creek, located east of Kingdom City, will begin Monday, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Contractors working for MoDOT will replace the guardrail and expansion joints, rehabilitate the bearings, and repair the structural steel girder end. Rehabilitation is necessary to extend the life and usability of the bridge.

Much of the work will take place on the underneath structure of the bridge. There will be initial nightly lane closures on the bridge, with a planned long-term closure scheduled in October.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson's $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state. The project is scheduled to be completed by December.
