Filing period for April 5 election opens Tuesday

Filing for the April 5 municipal election opens Tuesday with more than several seats up for election.

The Jefferson City Council has an election for five seats - one per city ward.

The incumbents and the names of those who have announced they intend to run for the seat include:

Ward 1 - incumbent Hank Vogt has not announced if he intends to seek re-election; Jack Deeken announced his intent to seek the seat Friday.

Ward 2 - incumbent Mike Lester has announced his intent to seek re-election.

Ward 3 - incumbent Erin Wiseman has announced her intent to seek re-election.

Ward 4 - incumbent Ron Fitzwater has announced his intent to seek re-election.

Ward 5 - incumbent Jon Hensley has announced his intent to seek re-election.

Those interested in running for a council seat can file at Jefferson City Hall, 320 E. McCarty St.

The Jefferson City School District Board of Education will have two open seats.

Incumbents Lorelei Schwartz and Stephanie Johnson have not announced if they will seek re-election.

School board candidates can file at the district's central office, 315 E. Dunklin St.

Filing closes Dec. 28; the election will be held April 5.
