Probation ordered in pursuit case

A Jefferson City man was placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to charges in connection with a pursuit with authorities in December 2020.

During a hearing before Cole County Judge Dan Green, William Miller 19, pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and receiving stolen property. Prosecutors dismissed one count of first-degree tampering as part of a plea agreement. If Miller fails to meet the conditions of his probation, he faces four years in prison.

Miller was in a stolen vehicle in a parking lot in the 700 block of Stadium Boulevard, according to Jefferson City Police Department reports. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but Miller fled and was eventually caught after trying to exit the vehicle. Authorities said they found a loaded gun inside a bag Miller was wearing.
