Ameren Missouri natural gas customers will see rates decrease under a filing that will take effect Monday.
Ameren residential customers currently pay approximately 40 cents per hundred cubic feet of natural gas, according to the Missouri Public Service Commission. Under this filing announced Thursday, the rate will drop to about 35 cents per Ccf.
This change will affect Ameren natural gas customers in areas such as Jefferson City, Columbia, Rolla, Salem, Owensville, Mexico, Wentzville, Cape Girardeau and Marble Hill.
Fifty to 55 percent of a customer's current natural gas bill reflects the cost of natural gas from wholesale suppliers. The wholesale cost of natural gas (the cost the local natural gas company must pay to its suppliers for natural gas) is not regulated by the PSC.
