Jefferson City man killed in motorcycle wreck

One person was killed after two motorcycles crashed Sunday night in Jefferson City.

According to Jefferson City Police Department reports, police officers and members of the Jefferson City Fire Department were called around 7:57 p.m. to respond to the crash in the eastbound lanes of the 1000 block of U.S. 50 West.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle ridden by Gregory Detienne, 68, of Jefferson City, for an unknown reason, lost control and struck a guardrail face. Detienne reentered the highway and collided with a motorcycle driven by Donald Hampton Jr., 67, of Jefferson City.

Detienne was killed. Hampton suffered moderate injuries and was transported to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Crash investigators are continuing their investigation into the crash. Preliminary reports indicate more motorcyclists were in the area and could provide information to help the investigation.
