State seeks input on federal housing assistance funds

The state will be asking Missourians how it should spend money awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. One of those five meetings is scheduled for Tuesday in Jefferson City.

That hearing is scheduled for 9:30-11:30 a.m., at Room 493/494 in the Harry S. Truman State Office Building, 301 W. High St., according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

"A short presentation will be provided at each hearing to explain the programs and how funding may be used. Attendees will also have an opportunity to provide public comments and ask questions of state officials," according to the news release.

Public comment will help the state form its fiscal year 2020 Draft Action Plan, which covers the following HUD programs administered by the state: Community Development Block Grant, HOME Program, Emergency Solutions Grant Program, Housing Trust Fund, Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS, and the Continuum of Care.

There is a 30-day public comment period that began Jan. 15 on the FY2020 Draft Action plan. The comment period ends at noon Feb. 14. Written comments can be submitted, and questions about the process answered, at ded.mo.gov/publiccomment.

The state is also hosting four other hearings around the state - in St. Joseph, Poplar Bluff, Springfield and by phone.
