Work to close parts of I-70 bridge near Rocheport

One westbound lane of the Missouri River bridge near Rocheport on Interstate 70 will be closed two days next month as part of early preparations for building a new bridge.

Starting Oct. 1, crews working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin surveying along the eastbound and westbound shoulders of I-70 between Missouri 179 west of the bridge and Route BB east of the bridge, according to a news release Tuesday from MoDOT.

Missouri 179 is the Overton/Wooldridge exit, and Route BB is the Rocheport exit. Various shoulder closures are expected before the work is scheduled to be finished Oct. 4.

Crews will also close one westbound lane of I-70 across the bridge from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 8-9.

Motorists are asked to slow down, pay attention and expect delays during the work.

More information and updates about the project is available by calling 1-888-ASK-MoDOT, visiting www.modot.org/central and following the MoDOT Central Missouri District on Facebook and Twitter.
