Jefferson City police responded to two separate injury crashes Saturday involving damage to buildings that subsequently resulted in the drivers being taken into custody.

The first occurred at approximately 7:51 a.m. when officers responded to a call at 105 Ventura Ave. on the city's westside. A citizen caller stated a vehicle ran into the apartment complex and was lodged in the living room of one of the apartments.

After a preliminary investigation, officers determined the driver reportedly left the roadway attempting to strike a subject running across the parking lot. The driver and the pedestrian were alleged to be involved in a domestic altercation immediately prior to the crash. The pedestrian stated the driver was attempting to run him over when she struck a parked vehicle and careened into the building.

Police are requesting the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney's Office file charges against the driver for first-degree domestic assault, careless and reckless driving, felony property damage and driving while intoxicated.

The second crash occurred at 2:51 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Sardonyx Drive where officers responded to a report involving a vehicle striking a home. One of the callers advised that the driver was possibly unconscious.

Arriving officers located the female driver who allegedly was showing signs of impairment. The driver was evaluated by ambulance personnel at the scene but refused treatment. After the on-scene investigation was completed, the driver was taken into custody.

Jefferson City code enforcement personnel were called to the scene to evaluate the safety of the home due to the damage.
