A Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services employee was named the State Employee of the Month for October.

Wendy Bryant, who works in Moberly, was nominated for advocating for one of her clients.

In November 2018, she received a hotline call about a homeless, disabled veteran who was on probation and unable to secure housing. She helped ensure his living arrangements remained intact and has been bringing him boxes of food from the food pantry since that time.

Her vast knowledge of programs was helpful as she filled out a Medicaid application for the veteran, which has been approved by the Medical Review Team. The veteran has since been able to obtain medical care and transportation to and from his appointments.

Bryant is currently working with the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole and the court so the man can be approved for food stamps. In addition, she has been facilitating phone calls with her client, assisting him with Veterans Affairs and the Social Security system.

Bryant has almost 18 years of service for the state with more than two years at the Department of Health and Senior Services.
