Bulky item pick-up starts next week in Jefferson City

Bulky item pick-up in Jefferson City will begin next week.

The 2019 spring cleanup event will occur April 8 for residents west of U.S. 54 and April 15 for residents east of U.S. 54.

Items that will be picked up include furniture, large bulky items that two people can pick up, televisions, microwaves, tied bundles of scrap material under 4 feet, and mattresses.

Items can be placed on the curb next Sunday but no later than 5 a.m. Monday, according to the city's website.

Items that will not be picked up include household trash, bags or boxes of debris, loose piles of materials, remodeling materials, appliances, yard waste, household hazardous waste, lumber or guttering more than 4 feet, rocks, bricks, concrete, flammable materials, acid batteries or car parts - including tires.

Small items that fit in residents' trash carts must be placed in the carts. Trash and recycling will be picked up on normal collection days.

Property owners must clean up any items Republic Services leaves behind, or the property owners may face nuisance violations, according to the city's website.

Bulky item pick-up is exclusively for single-family residences, duplexes, triplexes and townhomes with residential trash cart service through Republic Services. The residences must be located within Jefferson City.

Republic Services can pick up large, bulky items anytime during the year for a fee. Residents can call Republic Services at 573-635-8805 to schedule a pick-up time.

Residents with household hazardous waste can drop off those products on April 17, May 15, June 5, Sept. 4, Sept. 18, Oct. 2 and Oct. 16. Residents must schedule an appointment at hhwscheduling.as.me

Residents with yard waste can visit the Yard Waste Facility at 2417 Southridge Drive from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. Sundays.
