Jefferson City resident injured in Saturday accident

Jefferson City resident Richard L. Underwood, 43, was moderately injured in a one-vehicle wreck Saturday evening in Jackson County.

The patrol said he was driving at 5:07 p.m. north on Route F, about 1 mile north of U.S. 50. His vehicle ran off the road and overturned.

Underwood, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence.

Eldon resident Wendi R. Surface, 31, was seriously injured in a one-vehicle wreck Saturday evening in Miller County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said she was driving at 8:47 p.m. east on U.S. 54, west of Cave Road, when her vehicle went off the road, over corrected, returned to the road, went off the right side and over corrected again. It then impacted the embankment and overturned.

Surface, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance.
