Court documents made available Wednesday give details about a shooting that seriously injured a man in Jefferson City on Monday night.

Michael Miller, 27, of Jefferson City, was charged late Tuesday with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Miller reportedly went to a residence in the 1300 block of Monroe Street and ordered everyone inside to empty their pockets, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

The 25-year-old Jefferson City man who was shot said Miller had struck him in the back of the head with a pistol and knocked him to the ground, then fired two rounds, hitting him once in the chest. Miller then allegedly took the man's wallet and ran.

The victim later identified Miller out of a photo lineup as the person who had shot him and taken his wallet.

One witness told police they briefly saw a person believed to be Miller flee from the front of residence after the witness heard the shots and fled the residence through the back door.

Police canvassed the nearby area looking for Miller for several hours Monday night and early Tuesday morning. In the 300 block of Stadium Boulevard, officers located a green jacket which the victim and the witness said they had seen Miller wearing at the time of the robbery. Officers looked at social media postings by Miller and reportedly saw pictures of Miller wearing the jacket.

Miller was still being sought by authorities as of Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with information on Miller's whereabouts is urged to contact the Jefferson City Police Department at 573-634-6400, Crimestoppers at 659-TIPS (659-8477) or jeffcitycrimestoppers.com.
