Wednesday chase through Jefferson City's south side ends in arrest

A Jefferson City man was arrested following a chase with authorities on Wednesday night.

The incident started just after 9 p.m. at Walmart on West Stadium Boulevard, when the suspect was reported to have been on the property illegally after have been previously issued a trespassing violation, according to Jefferson City Police Department reports.

The suspect left the store by the time an officer arrived and was spotted in the area of U.S. 50 East and Dix Road. When the suspect failed to pull over, the pursuit began.

Officers deployed spikes at U.S. 50 and Jefferson Street, deflating three of the tires on the suspect's vehicle.

The pursuit went onto several streets in the Old Munichburg area, including Madison Street, Jackson Street and Tanner Way, before eventually reaching the 700 block of Lafayette Street.

The suspect jumped out of the vehicle then ran and fell into a ravine and was taken into custody around 9:10 p.m.

The suspect, who was not named pending filing of charges, was arrested for driving while revoked, failure to yield and possession of drug paraphernalia.
