Jefferson City woman pleads guilty in BB gun shooting

A Jefferson City woman has pleaded guilty to a reduced charged in connection with a BB shooting in July.

Tia B. Zolk, 27, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor peace disturbance during a hearing before Cole County Judge Dan Green. She was placed on two years of unsupervised probation.

Last month, Rashaun D. Woods, 20, also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor peace disturbance during in this case, and Green placed him on two years of unsupervised probation.

In August, another man charged in this case, Christian White, 17, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor peace disturbance, and Cole County Presiding Judge Patricia Joyce ordered him to pay a $200 fine.

Zolk, Woods and White each had been charged with two felonies - first-degree property damage and armed criminal action - and a misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree assault, but prosecutors amended those charges to the single misdemeanor.

A fourth suspect, Davion Evans, 19, is awaiting a hearing in his case. He also had been charged with one count of first-degree property damage, armed criminal action and now faces only one count of misdemeanor peace disturbance.

Zolk, White, Woods and Evans were believed to have been involved in an incident of BB gunshots fired at a woman's car while the woman and a passenger were traveling on a highway.

Zolk was the driver of a vehicle with Woods, White and Evans as passengers.

In the 200 block of U.S. 50/63, Zolk told police, she heard Woods, White and Evans mention a female victim by name just before the three passengers allegedly displayed then fired their BB guns at another vehicle, according to a probable cause statement from the Jefferson City Police Department.

The vehicle sustained significant damage to its bodywork and had its windows shattered, according to police documents. The incident also placed the driver in danger of crashing the car, as well as being in fear of being hit by the BB's at close range, police reported.

Woods was in the front passenger seat. He told police his friends in the back seat had fired at the car, and a victim in the other vehicle said Woods also had fired at the vehicle.

Authorities said Zolk drove the three shooters to one of their homes, where she left them and did not report the incident.
