'There's no place' like Eugene homecoming

Cole County R-5 held its homecoming Feb 2. The theme this year was "There's NO place like HOMEcoming" featuring "Wizard of Oz"-themed spirit days in January. Mikaela Goodin and Leo Hager were crowned 2019 queen and king. Taylor Luebbering and Ethan Adrian were runner ups.

Mikaela Goodin is the daughter of Melissa Faulkner. She is a four-year member of the Lady Eagles volleyball team. She is a six-year member of the Eagles Student Council and serves this year as class representative. She is the vice president of the class of 2019. After graduation, Goodin plans to attend Ozark Technical College and major in pre-med specializing in pediatrics.

Leo Hager is the son of Ed and Deana Hager. He is a four-year member of the Eagles basketball team serving as co-captain. He is a four-year member of the FFA organization and is the current president. He is a one-year member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a one-year member of the Eagles Student Council serving and the current vice-president. After graduation, Hager plans to attend Missouri S&T in Rolla to major in chemical engineering.

Taylor Luebbering is the daughter of Josh and Katie Luebbering. Luebbering is the current president for the Class of 2019. She is a four-year member and letterman of the Lady Eagles basketball team. Luebbering is a six-year member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and serves this year as president. After graduation, she plans to attend Ozark Technical College to pursue a degree in dental assisting.

Ethan Adrian is the son of Mark and Gina Adrian. He is a four-year member of the Eagles basketball and baseball teams, as well as the FFA organization and National Honor Society. After graduation, he plans to attend college.

The following were also candidates:

Stephanie Belt is the daughter of Jamie and Mikel Belt. She is a four-year member and letterman of the Eagles Cheerleading Squad. She is a three-year member of the National Honor Society. After graduation, she plans to attend State Fair Community College in Sedalia for occupational therapy.

Cameron Haeffner is the son of Matt and Kathleen Haeffner. He is a four-year member of the basketball, baseball and track team. Haeffner is a four-year member of the FFA organization. After graduation, he plans to attend college to pursue a degree in wildlife biology with an emphasis in fisheries and stream ecology.

Caitlyn Bittle is the daughter of Leslie and Donnie Bittle. She is a two-year member of the Student Hospitality Club. She is a former national champion in skating. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Missouri to pursue a degree in elementary education and skate on MU's synchronized skating team.

Trevor Bax is the son of Perry and Nicole Bax. He is a four-year member of the FFA organization and a five-year member of the local 4-H organization. After graduation, Bax plans to attend Ozark Technical College in Springfield for pre-engineering, and then transfer to Missouri S&T in Rolla for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

Kaitlyn Blain is the daughter of Lori and Jay Blain. She is a four-year member and letterman of the Lady Eagles volleyball team. Blain is also a one-year member of the SkillsUSA organization through Eldon Career Center and serves as her class representative. After graduation, Blain plans to attend college to major in nursing and become a registered nurse.

Draven Carrender is the son of Ryan and Sara Carrender. He is a three-year member of the Eagles Student Council and serves this year as president. Carrender is a four-year member of the National Honor Society and serves this year as public relations officer. After graduation, he plans to attend Ozark Technical College to major in psychology and social science.

Whitley Wilson is the daughter of Damond and Teresa Wilson. She is a four-year member and letterman of the Lady Eagles softball team; the FFA organization, serving this year as treasurer; and the Eagles Student Council. She is also a three-year member of the National Honor Society. After graduation, Wilson plans to attend college to major in nursing.

Hunter Tomson is the son of Heather and Jefferey Tomson. He is a four-year member and letterman of the Eagles basketball team. He is a two-year member of the FFA organization. Tomson has participated in the FFA Labor Auction and the Christmas Parade and is a member of Fresh Water Church in Jefferson City. After graduation, he plans to attend college to major in criminal justice.
