Mobile Vet Center to be available on campus

The Truman Veterans Affairs Mobile Vet Center will again be in Jefferson City to provide on-site services for area veterans next week.

The Mobile Vet Center is to be at Lincoln University's Jason Gymnasium, 809 Lafayette St., from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday.

The customized vehicle is equipped with confidential counseling space to extend access to services to veterans, service members, and their families - particularly those living in rural communities. Veterans may also receive readjustment counseling and information resources on the vehicle to assist them in the transition between military and civilian life.

The 37-foot-long mobile resource unit - a cooperative effort between the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital and the Columbia Vet Center - can provide area veterans with services such as Veterans Health Administration enrollment and counseling for post-traumatic stress disorder and military sexual trauma.

Through the center, veterans may receive referrals for suicide prevention.
