Naught-Naught Agency donates to Goldschmidt Cancer Center

The Naught-Naught Agency in Jefferson City has earned a 2019 Make More Happen Award from Safeco Insurance, an acknowledgement of its commitment to improving the community through volunteer work with the Capital Region Goldschmidt Cancer Center, according to a news release.

The award includes a $5,000 to Goldschmidt Cancer Center, which serves cancer patients from 19 counties in Mid-Missouri.

Safeco's Make More Happen Awards recognize independent agencies whose staff support nonprofits that do work in the areas of community health, safety, education and civil service.

The Naught-Naught Agency became involved in helping cancer patients in the community more than 30 years ago when employees in the Jefferson City office held a garage sale in their parking lot to benefit cancer patients, according to the news release. Years later, the agencies' support for cancer patients through the Goldschmidt Cancer Center has grown to a benefit event and silent auction with more than 1,300 supporters.

"For thirty years my team and I have worked to benefit cancer patients through Capital Region's cancer program and Goldschmidt Cancer Center when it was established in 2008. This has had a significant impact on our community," Tom Naught, an independent agent for the Naught-Naught Agency, said in the news release.

Beginning Wednesday, the story of the Naught-Naught Agency and Goldschmidt Cancer Center will be featured on the Safeco Insurance Facebook page, giving the nonprofit a chance to earn an additional $5,000. If the story receives at least 250 likes, comments or shares on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn, the donation will be doubled to $10,000 by Safeco.
