For the fifth consecutive year, U.S. Cellular has donated $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson City.
The company and the club jointly announced this week the gift will help provide K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) educational opportunities for area youth.
The contribution represents part of $1 million in donations the company has made to clubs across the country in 2019 (including $55,000 in Missouri), according to a news release.
U.S. Cellular’s charitable efforts focused on STEM programming and learning have helped fund more than 50 after-school and academic-enrichment programs at Boys & Girls Clubs for more than five years, according to the announcement.
With donations to the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson City now totaling $50,000, U.S. Cellular has been able to spearhead the annual Black History Month Art Contest, a career readiness event, and a backpack and school supplies drive.
“For the past several years, U.S. Cellular has helped advance the mission of the Boys & Girls Club by providing resources and volunteers,” said Stephanie Johnson, the local club’s executive director. “Ultimately, the children of our community are the true beneficiaries of U.S. Cellular’s generosity.”
