Jefferson City man faces criminal charges after off-road vehicle crash

A Jefferson City man is facing criminal charges after an accident in March.

Jeffrey Strope, 56, is charged with one count of DWI causing serious physical injury and one count of unlawfully operating a utility vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

The accident occurred March 24 in the 5300 block of Roling Road. Strope was trying to turn southbound when the Honda Pioneer 700 - a "side-by-side" off-road vehicle - that he was driving overturned.

Strope and his passenger, Robert D. Rector, 47, of Jefferson City, were ejected from the vehicle.

Rector was taken to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries.

Strope had no reported injuries.

Neither man was using a safety device, according to the Highway Patrol report.
