South Callaway High School broke out the leis for homecoming week, holding activities and contests starting Sept. 24 with the theme "Let's Get Tropical."
The week included a limbo contest Monday, tropical dress-up Tuesday, beach bowling and hula hoops Wednesday, a pink out Thursday and beach volleyball Friday. Homecoming concluded Friday night with a football match-up against Clopton.
Ten students made up the homecoming court, with Lexi Winemilller crowned homecoming queen and Peyton Leeper named homecoming king.
Other court candidates were Hannah Benningfield, Treysen Gray, Hayley Mealy, Tyklen Salmons, Bailey Parker, Stephanie Powers, Daniel McDonald and Drake Davidson.
Lexi Winemiller is the daughter of Crystal Masek and Mike Winemiller. She is involved in National Honor Society, Athletic Association, cheerleading, Bulldog Nation, Spanish Club, golf, FBLA and Student Council. After high school, Lexi plans on going to the national guard to be a combat medic, and then after basic training, she plans to attend college to eventually become a pediatric doctor.
Payton Leeper is the son of Rich and Debbie Leeper. He is involved in football, baseball, Student Council, TREND and French Club. Peyton's plans after high school are to attend Southeast Missouri University on a baseball scholarship.
Hannah Benningfield is the daughter of Micah and Cindy Benningfield. She is involved in Spanish Club, Athletic Association, TREND, Future Teachers of America and National Honor Society. She is also a football manager and the president of Student Council. Hannah plans to go to a four year college where she will major in nursing. Afterward, she will work a couple of years in the field and then go back to get a masters and work in the pediatric field as a nurse practitioner.
Treysen Gray is the son of Chris and Kara Gray. He is involved in basketball, FBLA, Athletic Association, National Honor Society, Bulldog Nation and French Club. Treysen plans to attend St. Louis College of Pharmacy, where he will continue his basketball career. Treysen's goals in life are to graduate college and work for a pharmacy in a small town where he can start his family and career.
Hayley Mealy is the daughter of Eric and Linda Mealy. She is involved in FFA and plans to go to Ozark Technical College in Springfield. Hayley's goal in life is to become a nurse.
Tyklen Salmons is the son of Mark and Angie Salmons. He is involved in football, baseball and track. Tyklen's plans after high school are to play baseball for two years at a junior college and then transfer to a division one school, where he will pursue a career in dentistry. Tyklen's goals are to win another state championship in baseball and sign with a junior college or smaller local college.
Bailey Parker is the daughter of Tracy Peaks and Bryan Parker. She is involved in National Honors Society, STUCO, TREND, Future Teachers of America, French Club, Bulldog Nation, Athletic Association and basketball. Bailey's plan after high school is to go to Missouri State University to get a degree in early childhood education. Bailey's goals are to get a job as a teacher, start a family and have a big house.
Stephanie Powers is the daughter of Heidi and Terry Powers. She is involved in Athletic Association, FBLA, Future Teachers of America, Fine Arts Club, Naitonal Honor Society, Math Relays, Spanish Club, Student Council, TREND, basketball, golf, softball and cross country. After high school, Stephanie plans to go to college to get a degree in the dental field. She hopes to someday become an orthodontist. Stephanie's goals are to have a family, a big house and be successful enough to go on multiple vacations a year like her parents.
Daniel McDonald is the son of Mary and Kevin McDonald. He is involved in cross country, track, National Honor Society, FBLA, Bulldog Nation and Math Relays. After high school, Daniel plans to attend college to get a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and maybe computer science, too. After college, he plans to begin a successful career in the field of technology. Daniel's goals are to continue to further his education and learn as much as he can, while remaining as debt-free as possible.
Drake Davidson is the son of Bob and Tammy Davidson. He is involved in baseball, basketball, football, FBLA, National Honor Society and French Club. After high school, Drake plans to attend a two year college to play baseball and narrow down his ideas for what he would like to study. He would like to then transfer to a four year college to finish school. Drake's goals are to attend college, get a good job, start a family, have 2 boys and a girl, raise a family, and have his sons come back to South Callaway and watch them win a championship.
