Demolition of the historic St. Mary's Hospital continues.
Jefferson City signed off on demolition by Chicago-based contractor FE Group in late August.
Farmer Holding Company plans to redevelop the site into a complex with retail, restaurant and office space. FHC plans to rebuild the historic portions of the hospital by cleaning and reusing the existing stone portion of the hospital.
In August 2017, the Jefferson City Council approved FHC's plans to redevelop the site with the help of tax increment financing. The company will build either a $44.6 million project involving Lincoln University or a $30.9 million project with only commercial space.
FHC announced in August a Starbucks restaurant would become the first new tenant on the property on a site across from the old hospital at 505 Missouri Blvd.
