Suspect hospitalized after southwestern Missouri shootout

MARIONVILLE, Mo. (AP) - A southwestern Missouri man remains hospitalized in serious condition after being injured in a weekend shootout with police.

KYTV reported Mike Harrell, 37, of Springfield, was injured Saturday night in Marionville.

Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. John Lueckenhoff said Harrell was wanted on several warrants and was sought for questioning in a shooting. Troopers spotted his car Saturday night and attempted to pull over Harrell.

After letting a passenger out, Harrell allegedly sped away. Spike strips were used to slow his car, but the patrol said it struck an Aurora, Missouri, patrol car and another car.

The patrol said officers and Harrell then exchanged gunfire.

Specific details about Harrell's injuries have not been disclosed. No police officers were injured.
