The deadline for registering to vote in the Nov. 6 election is quickly approaching.

People must register before 5 p.m. Oct. 10 to be able to vote Nov. 6, according to the Cole County Clerk's Office.

The clerk's office also reminded Cole County residents in a news release Monday that, "If you live in Cole County and are not properly registered at your current address, you will need to update your address. An address change form is available at www.colecounty.org/clerk, or you can come into our office, located in the Cole County Courthouse Annex, 311 E. High St."

Regular office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Absentee voting for the Nov. 6 election begins today and runs through Nov. 5.

Those who wish to apply for an absentee ballot for themselves or a family member should do so as soon as possible so ballots have time to get back to the clerk's office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, staff members said. The deadline to mail an absentee ballot will be 5 p.m. Oct. 31.

The county clerk's office will be open 8 a.m.-noon Nov. 3 for people to vote by absentee. The deadline to cast an absentee ballot in the clerk's office will be 5 p.m. Nov. 5.
