Chicago man charged in Mid-Missouri homicide

A Chicago man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man from the state of California whose body was found in mid-June in a rural area of Miller County.

Joseph Mckenna has been charged with second-degree murder and is awaiting extradition, Miller County Sheriff Louie Gregoire said. Bond has been set at $750,000.

The body of Tyler J. Worthington was found June 11 in a rural area of Miller County. The death was ruled a homicide after an investigation by the Miller County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control.

Based on information and witness statements gathered during the investigation, Miller County Prosecutor Ben Winfrey issued an arrest warrant for Mckenna, who was taken into custody without incident.
