Tipton man arrested in drug bust

A Tipton man was arrested following a drug bust in Moniteau County.

Kenneth Hemlin, 36, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, according to Moniteau County Sheriff’s Department reports.

Deputies stopped a vehicle Tuesday outside of California for a registration violation.

Hemlin was the driver, and he was allegedly seen placing something around the front seat area.

Deputies asked to search the vehicle, but Hemlin denied them access. The department’s K-9 dog, Mizzou, was called to the scene and did an exterior sniff of the vehicle and indicated to deputies that there were drugs present in the vehicle. Deputies then searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine inside.
