Jail time ordered in Jefferson City chase case

A Jefferson City man has been sentenced to 30 days in the Cole County Jail after leading authorities on a pursuit in April through the west side of Jefferson City.

Louis Minor, 22, pleaded guilty to felony resisting a lawful stop Wednesday during a hearing before Cole County Presiding Judge Pat Joyce. A charge of misdemeanor DWI was dismissed.

Joyce ordered Minor be given credit for jail time already served.

Court documents show an officer saw Minor driving without registration on his vehicle on West McCarty Street. He turned left onto Bolivar Street, and that's when the officer turned on his siren and emergency lights. Minor failed to stop, drove onto Missouri Boulevard and sped away.

He was clocked at speeds up to 107 mph while traveling on Missouri Boulevard before turning onto South Country Club Drive, where he failed to stop for a stop light at the intersection with U.S. 50.

He then turned onto Truman Boulevard and went northbound onto Schumate Chapel Road. He was south of Easterly Estates when he lost control of his car while navigating a curve, skidded off the right side of the road, and struck a tree.

Minor fled the crash scene on foot but was caught after climbing over two fences and going through a creek.
