A Cole County man has been charged with first-degree statutory rape.

Jesse Driskill, 20, is charged in connection with an incident that occurred Oct. 16.

Deputies were called to a mobile home park in the 5100 block of West Business 50 on Oct. 18 after the department was contacted by Holts Summit police about a runaway 13-year-old girl from their community who might be at an address there, according to a Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement.

Driskill initially told deputies the girl was not there, but after a "lengthy conversation" he admitted the girl was in the home and took them to her, according to the statement.

During an interview with the girl, she told Division of Family Services officials that she had sex with Driskill.

Deputies asked Driskill if he forced the girl to have sex or was it consensual, and he said it was consensual.

Driskill also told deputies he had thought the girl was 16 but didn't learn her age until after he was served an ex-parte to not have contact with her. He said he believed he had had sex with the girl nine or ten times over the days she was with him.
