A Jefferson City man has pleaded not guilty to one charge of attempted enticement of a child, according to Missouri Case.net.

Callaway County Sheriff's officials executed an arrest warrant Oct. 12 and arrested Teneil Wayne Stevenson, 35, who was given a $50,000 surety bond. Currently, a court setting is scheduled at 8:59 a.m. Monday.

The warrant came as a result of a grand jury felony indictment filed Sept. 27 in Callaway County.

The indictment states Stevenson sent sexually suggestive electronic messages and photos to a child under the age of 15. Those actions are a "substantial step" toward committing the offense of enticement of a child, the indictment added.

Superintendent Chris Felmlee said Stevenson has recently been a teacher and assistant football coach at Southern Boone School District.

"He is on paid administrative leave since Sept. 4, and we are planning a board meeting on Thursday or Friday to accept his resignation," Felmlee said.

Stevenson formerly worked for the Fulton School District.

"He left last year; he was here one year," Superintendent Jacque Cowherd said.

Cowherd also said there have been no complaints filed at the Fulton district regarding Stevenson.

Stevenson is certified with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to teach health and physical education.
