Reward offered for information in Jefferson City homicide case

Jefferson City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a $500 reward for information that could help find anyone who was involved in a homicide that occurred early Wednesday morning.

Jefferson City police went to the 900 block of Jackson Street for a report of a weapons offense and found Demond Jones, 35, of Jefferson City, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the roadway.

He was given medical attention at the scene and taken to a local hospital but died while in transport to a hospital in Columbia.

Family members and witnesses described the suspect as a Black man with dreadlocks and said he was seen fleeing the area on foot.

Officers recovered multiple spent shell casings in the area consistent with statements and phone calls to the 911 Center.
