A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect Monday in central and southern Missouri, along and south of Interstate 70, according to the National Weather Service.

After a mix of drizzle and snow Monday morning in central Missouri, yet another round of snow is expected Monday afternoon. Amounts should only reach about 2 inches in the region that includes Jefferson City and Columbia, but much of that will fall around the time of Monday evening's commute home. Snowfall of up to 3 inches is forecast in some areas along and south of Interstate 44.

The National Weather Service issued the following statement for central Missouri:

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CST MONDAY...

WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of one to two inches expected.

WHERE...Portions of central and east central Missouri and southwest Illinois.

WHEN...From now to 9 PM CST Monday.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of accumulating snow will primarily cause travel difficulties. Roads may rapidly become slippery once the snow begins, so motorists should plan for a slower than normal trip. Be especially alert when approaching bridges, overpasses, and curves. In Missouri, call 1-888-275-6636 for road information.
