Resurfacing project to start next week in Fulton

As part of a project to improve Business 54 in Fulton, daytime resurfacing will begin Thursday on a portion of Business 54.

The daytime resurfacing will take place each weekday between the morning and afternoon rush hours on Business 54 between 12th Street and the roundabout. One lane of Business 54 will be open at all times during the work, and crews will flag motorists through the work zone. Missouri Department of Transportation officials said significant traffic delays are expected in the area during the work. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

Once the daytime resurfacing is completed on the stretch between 12th Street and the roundabout, the contractor will work on tying in the side streets to Business 54. Silver Drive (U.S. 54 West Outer Road) will also be resurfaced during the daytime. This work is also scheduled to take place between the morning and afternoon rush hours.

Evening resurfacing will continue along Business 54 from 6 p.m.-7 a.m. each weekday. One lane of Business 54 will be open at all times, and crews will flag motorists through the work areas.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in December.

The $3.7 million project is a partnership between MoDOT and the city of Fulton. The work includes resurfacing of Business 54 from Callaway County Route H to U.S. 54 on the north side of Fulton, as well as sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act pedestrian upgrades along Business Route 54.

Aplex Inc. of Linn is the primary contractor for this project.
