Jefferson City man charged with assault, resisting arrest

A Jefferson City man faces new charges after repeatedly violating a protective order.

Christopher Davis, 34, was charged with violating a protection order, victim tampering, resisting arrest and fourth-degree domestic assault last week.

A probable cause statement from the Jefferson City Police Department said Davis walked onto the property of someone who had a protective order against him on Nov. 24 and had him arrested for the same thing the day prior. A verbal altercation followed, and Davis allegedly spat on the victim after being asked to leave the premises.

Davis retreated to his own address while police were called to the location, and he verbally resisted arrest when police made contact, saying he was "not going back to jail." He reportedly physically resisted when officers tried to arrest him, eventually being taken to the ground on his stomach and arrested.

Davis had been arrested for assaulting the victim multiple times, according to the statement.
