The Blair Oaks R-2 School District's Board of Education is accepting applications for two school district patrons to serve on the board until the next election April 2, 2019.

Board members Bill Duke and Kevin Ward resigned from their seats earlier this month.

Applications for the two vacancies will be received at the district office at 6209 Route B in Wardsville until 3 p.m. June 5. The application forms are also available at the district office.

The office is closed for Memorial Day but otherwise open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The board is expected to have a special meeting shortly after the deadline to review applications and schedule interviews, according to a news release from Blair Oaks Superintendent Jim Jones. Those interviews are tentatively scheduled for June 12.

Jones said he doesn't know exactly when the board would like to have the seats filled, but the plan is to have the new members in place for the July 10 board meeting.

He cited per Missouri School Boards' Association rules that the only qualifications for candidates are that they be U.S. citizens, resident taxpayers of the district, residents of Missouri within one year and at least 24 years old.

Jones said the two appointees would be free to run for election in April if they want to. There will be two two-year seats and two three-year seats on the board available then.
